Rules

Plymouth Gift of Life Rules Sheet for 2010

All P.S.A. League Rules apply in addition to the following special tournament rules:

Drafted Player Teams:

  • Must bat all players on the roster
  • Must have a minimum of 4 women in the lineup and 3 on the field at all times
  • In the event a draft team has 10 available players (6 men and 4 women) they must take the field with that team – They may only add new players if they have less than 4 women or less than 10 players

Family Teams:

  • Must have a minimum of 4 women in the lineup and 3 on the field at all times
  • If the team chooses to bat more than 11 players (Which include four women per the above rule) the 12th person added must be a woman for a total of five in the lineup, the 14th player added must be a woman for a total of six in the lineup, etc.

Special Interest Teams:

  • Must play coed - At no time will there be more men than women on the playing field or in the lineup (If you bat 11 you can only have 5 men in lineup, if you bat 12 you can have 6 in the lineup, if 13 players batting you can still only have 6 men in the lineup, etc.)
  • You can play 6 women and 4 men to fill a team, 7 women and 3 men, etc.

Adding a player:

  • If you need to add a player, because you cannot meet the above rules, after you played your first game due to a player injury or absence, You must have that player cleared from Todd Klemme or Troy Struve.  A player can be used from a team out of the tournament or adding a new player to the tournament would need to also pay the player fee
  • New players may only be added at the start of a game – If your team loses a player during the game you will have to play without that lineup position and if that position comes up to bat it will be an automatic out

Double Switch:

  • The Double Switch will not be allowed – You can only substitute one player for one player.  Must either be both male or both female.  At no time may a female be replaced by a male in the batting order or a male get replaced by a female.
  •

Walks:

  • If a man is batting and a woman is on deck and the man is walked he will be awarded second base unless the male batter has a strike on him, then he will only receive first base

Outfield Line for women:

  • Outfielders must be behind the coed line in the outfield when a woman is batting and can not cross until the ball is hit

Batting Order:

  • There are no restrictions on batting order for any team - There is no requirement for alternating male / female just that you must have the required amount of women in the lineup based on the rules that apply to your type of team

Run Rule:

  • 12 run rule after 5 innings except in championship game in which NO run rule will be in effect

Home Run Rule:

  • No limit on home runs

Tournament Prizes:

  • The first and second place teams will receive prizes – The first place team will have first choice and the second place team will get the remaining option.
  • There are a maximum of 16 prizes per qualifying team
  • Only players on the original rosters at the start of your tournament first game are eligible for prizes

Unsportsmanlike Conduct of any kind, INCLUDING the harassment of umpires, by anyone will not be tolerated.  Please accept the fact that some umpires may not be sanctioned but all are donating their time and deserve respect during the BENEFIT Gift of Life Softball Tournament.  This will result in ejection from the tournament and grounds.

Consumption of alcohol by a minor, even if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, will not be tolerated (This is a P.S.A. Rule).  This will result in ejection from the tournament and grounds.
